This walk is a DO NOT MISS for any long distance walker!
This section follows our incredible journey on Wainwright’s Coast to Coast from St Bees on the west coast of England to Robin Hoods Bay in the east. The journey was over 300km passing through some of the most beautiful of English countryside, including the Lakes District and the Moors.
Prior to beginning the walk we spent a couple of days in St Bees, taking in the local scenery and most especially the Abbey. St Bees is a quaint village with a rich history. Our interest in doing the walk was aroused when we watched Julia Bradbury’s series on the Coast to Coast, on the ABC in Australia. It was sad to farewell St Bees as we had met some charming locals over the couple of days we stayed there prior to the walk. At the Abbey we met members of the local historical society who were launching a display. It was an entertaining afternoon of poetry and prose readings interspersed with musical items.
